TOWN builds residential and mixed use developments at street and neighbourhood scale. And we plan new places – urban extensions, regeneration schemes and new settlements – for TOWN and other developers to build.

Our mission

HOMES PEOPLE LOVE, IN PLACES PEOPLE LOVE.

The most enduringly popular neighbourhoods in nearly all towns and cities are compact, walkable and green, with good local amenities. They’re often characterised by streets of terraces, townhouses and mid-rise apartment buildings. They accommodate many different household types and lifestyles, and adapt over generations to meet changing needs.

Most new housing development is not like this. Although much needed, new housing is often dull, unsustainable and inflexible to people’s needs. Modern housebuilder homes are generally unpopular – among the people who live in them as well as those living nearby. Most, given the opportunity, would rather live in an older neighbourhood. Any many others, given access to land, would like to build their own home.

TOWN exists to meet these needs. We are a housing developer building sustainable, well-designed new homes which respond to people’s needs and which will improve, not detract from, the places that they’re built in.

What we do

RESIDENTIAL AND MIXED USE.

As a housing developer, TOWN develops in established residential locations or as part of new developments where we can help create value and achieve a sense of place early on.

We develop across a range of tenures, from private ownership to build to rent (PRS) and affordable housing. As well as being a housing developer we build mixed uses where this adds amenity or sense of place.

TOWN develops independently or in partnerships and joint venture with others.

CUSTOM BUILD.

TOWNs custom build model offers customers real design choice when buying a new home.Our configurable shells and menu-driven customisation approach give the benefits of  building your own home, but without the need to find a site or project manage it yourself.

Our custom build model is also suited to self-build groups. As an enabling developer we work closely with cohousing and other community-led groups to help realise their aims.

STRATEGIC LAND.

TOWN’s strategic land development business works with investors, landowners and local stakeholders and residents to plan walkable places based on urban blocks, streets and public spaces.

TOWN’s role is to prepare deliverable plans that give context and structure to the work of different builders, establish an intrinsic quality of place and generate short and longer-term value for all involved.

OUR APPROACH

HOMES THAT LEARN FROM THE PAST

TOWN builds modern, architect-designed versions of proven and familiar forms of housing such as terraces and townhouses. These incorporate some of the timeless qualities of period properties – spaciousness, high ceilings, generous windows and inherent adaptability – and are light, airy and carefully laid out to make the most of the space.

HOMES THAT LEARN FROM THE PAST

TOWN builds modern, architect-designed versions of proven and familiar forms of housing such as terraces and townhouses. These incorporate some of the timeless qualities of period properties – spaciousness, high ceilings, generous windows and inherent adaptability – and are light, airy and carefully laid out to make the most of the space.

SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY.

Unlike older properties, TOWN homes are constructed using state-of-the-art methods. We use off-site construction that allow for homes to be built to the highest levels of thermal performance, and quickly constructed. We integrate a range of technologies including mechanical ventilation heat recovery, renewable energy, and high-efficiency triple glazing, making for buildings with a small environmental footprint that are efficient to run and cheap to maintain.
