On Saturday 19th May TOWN had the pleasure of hosting, alongside our builder, Coulson Group, an ‘open site’ afternoon for members of K1 Cohousing, the future residents of Marmalade Lane.The project is now structurally complete, with the last of the Trivselhus kit deliveries from Sweden having been completed in April and the erection of the common house and flats completed using cross-laminated timber. This means that work is now focusing on the internal fit-out of homes and exterior landscaping.

With internal work on the West Terrace now at an advanced stage, residents were able to have a proper look around inside and out, to see how their homes are turning out and in some cases to do some early measuring-up!

Residents were particularly interested in seeing how some of the shared spaces and facilities are shaping up, not least the common house (pictured above), which will be the focal point of the cohousing community. At the heart of the common house is a double-height dining hall and kitchen where residents expect to cook and eat together regularly.

Alongside the dining area are a series of other spaces, including a laundry room, children’s play room, flexible spaces and guest rooms, not to mention the common house terrace, where residents are looking forward to gin and tonics before the summer is out.
