Angel Yard Cohousing and TOWN have submitted a full planning application for Norwich’s first cohousing community.

The 34-unit scheme will provide high-quality, low-energy homes designed with and for future residents.

TOWN, with Archio, has consulted with local and national heritage organisations to realise a scheme that is very much of Norwich and the Northern Riverside character area, while balancing the pressing need for sustainable homes for future climates.

The scheme underscores TOWN and the cohousing group’s commitment to reducing environmental impact, it provides renewable energy and is targeting Passivhaus certification. The integration of communal amenities means that residents can share resources and spaces including a Common House, with a dining room, guest bedrooms and a communal laundry, as well as a shared garden. These spaces encourage daily interactions between neighbours, minimise planetary impact and save space in resident’s own homes.
