LOVE WOLVERTON WINS PLANNING PERMISSION OF THE YEAR.

Our latest project – Love Wolverton, soon to come to fruition as construction commences next year, has been placed in the spotlight again, picking up the top planning prize at this year’s Planning Awards.

After what was already a great opportunity for the TOWN team to come together and celebrate the progress of the project alongside Milton Keynes Council, it was topped off with being awarded Planning Permission of the Year which we were all thrilled to receive. It was also rewarding to hear that our close working relationship with the council and the local community did not go unnoticed as the project was praised for our on-going collaboration and pro-active approach in the local area.

Another highlight of the evening were the judge’s comments that drew attention to the complexity of this mixed-use regeneration scheme achieving a truly 21st century style development in a sensitive conservation area considering site context, community ambitions, the imperative for urban design and architectural quality and viability considerations. Our overall quality of response on design and sustainability had won the judges hearts over as it acknowledged a balance between the scheme and local policy in a way that addresses a uniquely challenging site.

We have been overwhelmed by the response to the scheme so far and appreciate the recognition it is receiving in the Planning industry and the overall Built Environment sector. Even more so, we hope that the local community and surrounding areas continue to share just as much excitement as we do in the coming years as this project unfolds.

“We share the Council’s pride at winning this award. Everyone involved has been invested in getting this project right for Wolverton and the wider city, which made for a complex planning process. Open and cooperative engagement between TOWN, the Council and the wider community have been key to the success recognised by the judges, and we look forward to that continuing as we move into the construction stage.”

Neil Murphy, Director of TOWN.
